Our History

For nearly one hundred years, First Baptist Church has been ministering to lives in around this community. First Baptist was organized July 19, 1904. Fifteen people attended the first meeting and became the charter members. The first regular meeting was held January 8, 1905. In 1906, the congregation decided to build a building. The building was completed and dedicated June 9, A new auditorium was later built. First Baptist is a church that has sought to reach out to the community and around the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Pastor

Pastor Dennis Clements is a native of rural southwest Georgia. As a young man of 17, he felt God had called him to preach. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC , and earned a B.A. degree in Bible. A M.S. degree was received at Pensacola Christian College of Pensacola, Fl. Pastor Clements is currently pursuing doctoral studies at Northland Baptist Bible College of Dunbar, WI. He began his ministry at First Baptist in February of 2004. Before coming to First Baptist, he served for over twenty years on the staff of Northside Baptist Church of North Charleston, SC. He and his wife, Martha, have three daughters, Joy, Ruth and Hannah.
